Busy week for softball
The Comanche softball team was sitting alone in second place in the district heading into Tuesday’s game at Kingston against former coach Aaron Minor.
The Lady Indians suffered their first district loss of the season, falling, 5-3, last Tuesday at home to Lone Grove. The Lady Longhorns are sitting atop the district standings with a 4-0 district record, while Comanche holds a 3-1 record.

Lone Grove jumped out with three runs in the top of the first inning before Comanche bounced back in the bottom half with two to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Lady Indians tied the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Mykayla Slovak that scored Bre Gill.
The score remained tied until the top of the sixth when Lone Grove pushed across a run on an error. They then added an insurance run in the seventh to get the win.
Raylee Chaney, Gill, Slovak, Jaylee Roebuck and Caity Ramsey all had a hit for Comanche. Slovak drove in two runs to lead the team and Roebuck had a double.
Josey Harris was the losing pitcher, going seven innings, giving up five hits, four earned runs, five walks and striking out four.

The Lady Indians edged out the Lady Eagles, the 19th ranked team in Class A at the Plainview Festival.
Comanche held a 3-0 lead after the first inning, scored another run in the top of the third and then held on from that point to get the win.
Jaylee Roebuck went 2-for-2 to lead Comanche at the plate. Raylee Chaney, Bre Gill, Mykayla Slovak, Cloey Kinkade and Josey Harris each had a hit with Gill picking up a triple.
Jentry Whaley was the winning pitcher for Comanche, going six innings and giving up five hits, two earned runs, four walks and striking out six.

Norman 3
The Lady Indians picked up a win over a Class 6A school in their second game of the Plainview Festival.
Comanche scored all seven of its runs in the first two innings and held Norman scoreless until its final at-bat in the sixth inning.
Raylee Chaney, Jentry Whaley, Bre Gill and Josey Harris all had two hits in the game. Mykayla Slovak also had a hit. Slovak, Whaley and Gill all had doubles in the game. with Gill and Slovak driving in two runs each.
Cloey Kinkade was the winning pitcher as she threw all six innings. She gave up five hits, two earned runs, two walks and struck out six.
Saturday

After falling behind 1-0 early, the Lady Indians tied the game in the first inning and then took a 4-1 lead and never gave it up at the Lindsay Festival.
Jentry Whaley went 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored to lead the offense. Bre Gill, Jaylee Roebuck, Cloey Kinkade and Josey Harris all had a hit. Gill had a double and Whaley and Roebuck had triples.
Kinkade was the winning pitcher, tossing four innings, giving up five hits, two earned runs, no walks and one strikeout.
Lindsay 5
Comanche 3
The Lady Indians had their three-game winning streak snapped as the host team jumped out early and held on for the win.
Comanche drew first blood in the top of the first with a run-scoring triple by Mykayla Slovak.
Lindsay came right back, however, in its half of the inning with four runs and then added another in the third inning.
The Lady Indians’ final two runs came in the top of the fourth.
Lindsay finished the game with just three hits but made the most of them.
Josey Harris had two hits for Comanche. Raylee Chaney, Slovak, Cleoy Kinkade and Addison Downey had the other hits.
Monday

Davis 9
The Lady Indians picked up a big district win in a high-scoring affair with the Lady Wolves.
Comanche scored the first 10 runs of the game through the first three innings, only to see Davis fight back over the next two innings with eight runs.
The Lady Indians would add two more runs in the top of the seventh and Davis would score its last run in the bottom half.
Comanche pounded out 17 hits in the game, led by Bre Gill, Mykayla Slovak and Caity Ramsey, who had three hits each. Jaylee Roebuck, Addison Downey and Jentry Whaley had two hits each. Cloey Kinkade and Josey Harris each had a hit.
Slovak had two doubles in the game and Whaley hit a home run.
