Lady Indians get win on Senior Night

It was a fight to the finish, but the Lady Indians sent off their four seniors with a win in their final regular season home game on Monday.
A determined Lexington (11-18) team held Comanche (17-11) in check until the Lady Indians finally pushed across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth for a 5-4 lead.
It was the first time Comanche had led in the game. It also avenged a 2-1 loss to the Lady Bulldogs on Sept. 8.
Seniors Josey Harris, Raylee Chaney, Mykayla Slovak and Kamrey Rendon were honored after the game.
“They play each and every day, just like the rest of them, so I really think as far as leadership, they’ve done a good job of keeping us together and giving us that senior leadership we need,” said Jennifer White, head coach.
Lexington led three times in the game and Comanche came back to tie the game all three times. With the game knotted at 4-all going into the bottom of the sixth, Comanche pushed ahead when Rendon doubled to start off the inning.
Following two straight outs, Rendon scored on an error to give the Lady Indians the lead.
Rendon started the game on the mound before Harris took over in the top of the fifth to finish out the game and get the win.
Rendon was 2-for-2 to lead Comanche at the plate. Chaney, Jentry Whaley, Slovak, Caity Ramsey and Cloey Kinkade all had hits in the game. Chaney, Rendon and Kinkade had an RBI in the game with Chaney and Rendon getting doubles.

In their final district game of the season, Comanche doubled up the Lady Redskins powered by three home runs - two by Bre Gill - to finish second in District 3A-1.
The Lady Indians scored five runs in the first inning and never trailed, highlighted by Gill’s three-run homer. With a full count, Gill fouled off six straight balls before hitting the next one over the fence.
Comanche was on the cusp of ending the game early a couple of times, but Kingston would fight back to keep the game alive through seven innings.
Gill drove in half of the 12 runs by going 3-for-4 at the plate. Josey Harris, who also pitched a complete game, helped her own cause with a home run and drove in three runs. Both players hit two-run homers in the bottom of the third inning.
The Lady Indians pounded out 16 hits in the game with every player in the line-up getting at least one hit. Mykayla Slovak had three hits, Raylee Chaney and Jentry Whaley had two each. Caity Ramsey, Jaylee Roebuck and Cloey Kinkade all had a hit.
“I think this is a really good group of girls and they’re very athletic,” White said. “We’ve had our ups and downs, of course, but you’ve got to take into account they have a new coach and they got a lot of new things thrown at them and we don’t have a lot of extra players. I think they are starting to come into their own and relax a little bit more when they’re playing.”
She thinks they have handled the changes well.
“It seems that people around here don’t like a lot of change and there’s a lot of change throughout the school system and they’ve done a pretty good job of holding onto it. I just hope is they will play for each other and really come together as a team.”
