Comanche bounced back from its worst offensive game of the season to having one of its best in the third place game of the Stephens County Tournament onSaturday.

The Indians took control in the early going and kept the pressure up as they survived a three-point onslaught by Central High in the final quarter to hold on for the win.

Comanche led 12-7 at the end of the first quarter and then held a 28-21 halftime lead.

The third quarter proved to be the most crucial for the Indians as they poured in 28 points, including 14 from Myles Ellis, which included three three-pointers. He would finish with four three-pointers in the game on his way to an All-Tournament selection.

Meanwhile, teammate Corbin Bowen provided steady points throughout, scoring no less than three points in every quarter. Fellow senior Hunter Lassley helped keep the Bronchos at bay in the fourth quarter, scoring all three of Comanche’s field goals in the quarter.

The Indians did miss some free throws, which allowed the Bronchos to stay relatively close, but they shot well enough down the stretch to win.

Central High’s Luke Thrasher scored 13 of his game high 30 points in the fourth quarter whichkept the game interesting.
