Comanche traded blows in the first half against Plainview, but a strong second half performance by Plainview in the second half allowed the visitors to pull away for a 48-18 win last Friday night in Comanche.

Comanche had some players in different positions following the first two games of the season. Noah Presgrove moved from the interior line to tight end and Kooper Doucet switched to safety from his defensive end position that were a couple of noticeable changes for the Indians.

After stopping Plainview on its first drive, Comanche drove down the field and scored on a Gabe Diaz three-yard run that put the Indians up 6-0 with 5:09 to go in the first quarter.

Plainview quickly answered, however, when Morgan Pearson, who is being recruited by Division I colleges, returned the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for the score. The extra point gave the visitors the lead for the first time at 7-6.

In the second quarter, Comanche took the lead back on a Diaz run from five yards out that gave the home team a 12-7 lead.

Plainview came right back with a 40-yard touchdown pass to retake the lead at 14-12.

Comanche would then retake the lead on a 50-yard touchdown pass from Doucet to Presgrove that would give the home team an 18-14 edge.

That would be the last lead for Comanche. Plainview scored twice more in the half to take a 27-18 halftime lead.

Plainview then scored quickly to open the third to push the lead to 34-18. The visitors would add two more scores in the half to get the win.

Comanche (1-2) begins district play against rival Lindsay (2-1) this Friday. In their last game, the Leopards defeated Atoka, 28-7.

It will also be homecoming for Comanche with the festivities beginning at 6:15 p.m. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
