Morgan Leon Mannen, 78, of Comanche, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at Duncan Regional Hospital in Duncan. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23, at First Baptist Church, Comanche, with Dr. Mark Hall and Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024.
Morgan was born on Aug. 22, 1946 in Sayre, the son of Cullen Uan and Gertie Lucille (Morgan) Mannen. He married the love of his life, Cheryl Elaine Shelton on July 14, 1967 at Delhi. Following graduation from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford in 1968, Morgan and Cheryl moved to Comanche where Morgan began his 56-year career in education at Comanche Public Schools. Morgan was a loving and devoted husband and father, however, being PopPop to his six grandchildren was his greatest gift. Morgan was an active member of First Baptist Church in Comanche.
Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Deines and her husband, Paul, of Hudson, CO; a son, Keith Mannen and his wife Jayna, of Fletcher; and six grandchildren: Ethan (23), Evan (21), Caleb (20), Jacob (18), Ryan (12) and Kamryn (9). Morgan was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Elaine; his parents Cullen Uan and Gertie Lucille (Morgan) Mannen; and his brother, Bobby Gene Mannen.
