Jack was born to Jack, Sr. and Dorothy Faye Whitfield on July 31, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo. He was the second oldest of five children. Jack and Dorothy eventually moved their family to California where Jack, Jr. graduated from Oceana High School in 1969. Jack married Linda Saltzman on June 13, 1970. They had two children and made their home in California and Washington before settling in Comanche in 1981. Jack worked various jobs throughout his life including USPS, Spalding, warehouse work, Halliburton and independent contract work. He also worked for several years at the City of Comanche. Jack was an enthusiastic sports fan and enjoyed watching all sports. As a young adult, he played on a co-ed softball team as well as umpired youth softball and baseball games. He loved woodworking and most of all playing board games and card games with his family. Jack was a proud citizen of the Chickasaw Tribe, and his lineage can be traced back to the tribal lineage of Edmund Pickens, the first Chickasaw Chief. Jack was a long-time member of Praise Assembly of God church in Comanche.
After his marriage ended, Jack moved back to California for a while before returning to Comanche where he retired. In 2018, he reconnected with former high school sweetheart, Gail Montgomery and moved to Centralia Washington. The two were married on Dec. 22, 2019.
