City hires new consulting firm for land development project
Comanche Land Authority trustees rescinded one agreement and approved another in regard to the Comanche Development Project at its meeting on Jan. 14.
In their first meeting since March 2024, trustees rescinded an offer with Cown Group Engineering after the bid exceeded the $120,000 threshold placed on the project. They subsequently approved Country City, LLC to do the professional planning services for the project for $14,500.
In the city council portion of the meeting, the council members met in an executive session with their attorney for almost 40 minutes to discuss the lawsuit filed by Gerald Pate against the city. The discussion was supposed to take place the previous Thursday but was postponed due to inclement weather.
Pate claims city sewer lines back up and cause problems on his property on S. 2nd Street when it rains.
The council took no action after returning from executive session.
There was some good news for the council. For the first tiime in a few months, the city’s general fund took in more revenue than it paid out, finishing more than $10,000 in the positive for the month of December.
A healthy Stephens County requires great community news.
