Ralls receives commendation from governor for workforce efforts
The Oklahoma Workforce Board hosted an alumni celebration event on Nov. 9 at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City. At the event they recognized several individuals from across the state for their participation and contributions in improving Oklahoma Workforce. Among those recognized was Comanche City Manager Chuck Ralls. On Ralls’ mission to make a difference he has become an advocate for the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA), DHS and DRS programs, sharing the programs with other municipalities via the City Manager’s Association of Oklahoma as well as through his many community and organizational involvements. Ralls has not only spread the word about WIOA but has made many personal referrals for placements in his city.
“Chuck has been a huge advocate for workforce development programs as well as a strong leader/innovator in our area. Whether it’s a hard-to-place participant who has many barriers or if there is an issue or support needed Chuck is always willing to help.” Said Erin Glass of South Central Oklahoma Workforce.
At the event Ralls received a commendation from Governor Stitt in recognition of the business-driven leadership he has given to Oklahoma’s workforce development system. “His contributions enhance the productivity of our economy and make our state a better place to live.” said Stitt.
Ralls stated that he was grateful for the recognition but it’s really about the people we are able to help.
“I’m fortunate to be in a position where I can mentor young adults and help them find a path that is best for them,” he said.
The city of Comanche has sponsored 14 individuals through the WIOA program over the past five years.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the mentors that have imparted wisdom and guidance into my life throughout the years,” said Ralls.
